Of crowds, hindi, samose's, loud conversations, chai's, dark skins, street smartness, and an impressive knack of minimum work-maximum output! :D :D
I have never been so inseparably attached to this particular category, branded so markedly nor did I ever identify myself this consciously as yet another Indian. Back home it never mattered where I belonged to, not the sprawling state nor the tiny town that I came from.
But now we're tagged and thrown into a tangle of presumptions and prejudices. In fact it's amazing how coloured my own view has become. The first thing that I notice when I come across anyone is whether they are American - White or coloured? or Chinki ( still can't tell apart the Chinese from the Korean :P ) or wow! yet another Indian. To this last I have been pretty accurate except for one Pakistani in my class ( In hindsight it would have been fun to watch the match with him :P )
As if others bracketing me weren't enough, I cling on to whatever little scraps of my culture I can! Imagine an aethiest like me- or agnostic at the least, planning early morning trips to temples on festivals! or craving to watch even the sobbiest of Karan Johar flicks! digging up autorickshaw numbers on the net to listen to! :P
Every whiff of Indian flavour adds to the aroma.
